Urban Classic Health is actively building toward residential group living services — 24-hour supervised residential care for adults with developmental disabilities who require more comprehensive support than home-based or supported independent living models can provide. This service is not yet operational. Our development pathway is defined, our preparatory steps are underway, and we are publishing our progress here so families can plan accordingly. Our PDD Pre-Qualified Resource application — which includes residential group living for the Calgary Region — was submitted to the Government of Alberta in June 2026 and is under review.

What Group Home Residential Care Is

Residential group living provides a small, community-based home environment where adults with developmental disabilities live together with 24-hour staffing support, individualized programming, and consistent clinical oversight. Group homes in Alberta are regulated under the Persons with Developmental Disabilities Services Act — providers must meet provincial standards for facility safety, staffing qualifications, medication management, client rights, incident reporting, and quality oversight before admitting a single resident. Urban Classic Health will not open a residential home until every regulatory, clinical, staffing, and facility requirement is fully met. We are stating this plainly because families deserve honesty about where a provider is in its development.

  • Small homes, not institutional settings. We will operate small-scale residences. Small homes consistently produce better outcomes, more individualized relationships, and stronger community integration than large congregate facilities.
  • 24/7 LPN clinical supervision. Every group home will operate under the direct, ongoing clinical oversight of our Licensed Practical Nurse Director of Care. Health monitoring, medication management, and incident response will carry the same clinical rigour as our community-based services.
  • Individualized programming within shared living. Each resident will have a fully individualized program plan reflecting their goals, preferences, cultural identity, and developmental needs — not a standardized schedule applied to all residents.
  • Active community integration. Our group homes are a base for community life, not a containment setting. Community participation is a non-negotiable commitment for every resident.
  • PDD Pre-Qualified Resource application including Residential Group Living — Calgary Region: submitted June 2026, under review
  • CARF International accreditation: active pursuit — required for residential care providers
  • Residential care policy suite: expanding our 27-policy framework with 24-hour care-specific policies
  • Facility identification and City of Calgary licensing research: early-stage planning
  • 24/7 staffing model development: shift structure, overnight supervision, and staffing ratios

Register Your Interest

If group home residential care is a service your family is planning for, contact us now. We maintain a register of interested families and will reach out as development milestones are reached — before any public announcement. Please note: group home placement through the PDD program involves your PDD case coordinator. Urban Classic Health does not place individuals independently of this process.
